A useful bulk keycap quote explains what is included. Two quotes can show different prices because they cover different layouts, artwork versions or delivery arrangements. Define the same project in each enquiry before comparing a price per set.

Quantity and variants belong together
State the total number of sets, then break it down by design and keyboard layout. One shared design across a batch is a different brief from several personalized versions. Quantities can affect the production plan, but a fixed discount or minimum should not be assumed before the project has been reviewed.
Specify what makes up one set
List the keyboard models, required key sizes, language legends, material, profile and printing method. Different layout needs may require different key inventories. Ask whether the quote includes every required key for each model, rather than comparing the prices of sets with different contents.

Catalog examples for project discussion. Ask DIYKeycap to confirm the selected material, legends, key inventory and keyboard model.
Separate artwork and sample arrangements
Send the original design files and explain whether they are ready for production or still need placement review. Ask how design revisions and any sample arrangements are priced. Record what is being reviewed—layout, artwork, color or the full set—and which reference will be used for the batch. These details are agreed per project.
Describe packaging and delivery clearly
Include the destination country, arrival deadline and whether the batch goes to one address or several. If you need specific packaging, labeling or grouping by team, put it in the brief so feasibility and cost can be checked. Ask which delivery costs and responsibilities are included in the quote; do not assume retail shipping terms apply to a bulk project.
Use this comparison checklist
- Same quantity and breakdown of design/layout variants.
- Same material, profile, print specification and set contents.
- Same artwork-review and sampling arrangements.
- Same packaging and delivery requirements.
- Clear production lead time and a quote describing the agreed scope.
